  • Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United States.
  • 46 children are diagnosed with cancer everyday.
  • 7 of them will die everyday.
  • 1 child out of 5 who is diagnosed with cancer dies.
  • Childhood cancer it affects all ethnic, gender and socio-economic groups.
  • The average age of children diagnosed is six.
  • More than 40,000 children undergo treatment for cancer each year.
  • 3 out of 5 who survive children’s cancer suffer late-effects, such as infertility, heart failure, developmental problems and secondary cancers.
  • The causes of most childhood cancers are unknown. At present, childhood cancer cannot be prevented.
  • Childhood cancer occurs regularly and randomly.
  • Despite these facts, childhood cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded.
